Half-way through VBS

We are on Day Three of VBS and there is so much for which to praise God! I have had the privilege of visiting multiple VBS locations (we have 13 sites!) and seeing God at work in each place. Here are some things I've noticed and celebrate:
  • The volunteers at each site are multi-generational. We have preschoolers, children, students, college-students, young adults, adults, and senior adults serving together. It is so much fun to see our church family serving as a family.
  • Each site is unique. One site is hosted by a mother of preschoolers and her VBS has ended up being the only Preschool VBS. While the experience was designed for grade-schoolers this host and her volunteers are leading a fantastic experience for these little ones.
  • Kids and Students are serving with their parents and even adults are serving with their parents. Our families are being able to see each other serving God in ways outside of their normal everyday interactions. I praise God for the new appreciation being gained on both sides of these experiences for parents and children.
  • Churches are serving together. We moved locations for one of our teams on Tuesday to partner with another local church. Many of our volunteers have suggested we partner with local churches next year and it is exciting to see that happen even this year.
  • "Next year..." Many of our volunteers are taking notes about what they've learned about their neighborhood and evaluating changes for improving the experience next year. I love hearing "next year..."!
Please continue to pray that God will draw families to Himself through this experience. Our volunteers are faithful. They are available and ready. May God be mightily present in and through us as we finish strong!
